Bear Cats... Oh My!

So the word for panda in China literally translates to bear cat. Today we went to the Chengdu Panda Reserve! It's a weird cross between a zoo and an amusement park with no rides. We saw giant bear cats, red bear cats, peacocks, and black swans! Really awesome day today! #cute

Some of my friends posing with art pandas.

Red bear cats!!! These are seriously my favorite animals. I think I was more excited to see the red panda colony than the giant pandas lol.

Take note even on a Monday morning this place is packed. The only way you will get a semi decent picture with pandas is by taking selfies. Sad but true.

It's Friday!

So today we had a test. The teacher told me I did very good but I'm not sure if she was just being nice or not. I do think my confidence in speaking longer sentences has improved though!
I just wanted to give an overview of school life. Every week day we have language classes. Monday is art class, Tuesday is music, Wednesday is a field trip, Thursday , have Tai Ji, and Friday is a testing day. This Monday we see the pandas so keep an eye out for that!

Practicing for music class!

Cultural Highlight 2

Unless you have a large dog (which is rare) it is not normal to walk your dog on a leash. This has stayed true in Beijing, Deyang, and Chengdu! Keep in mind that in China most large dogs are a size down from what we would call them in America. To me my sister's dog is small but she thinks he is medium. This might just be my family though, I'm not sure.
This can lead to interesting situations; often people with slow dogs have to wait for their dog to catch up with them. I have seen many people quite a few feet away from their dogs waiting for the dog to stop smelling a wall.
In the same vain my family has a very active dog and we often have to chase after it to make sure he doesn't disappear. :)
Also , as for the dog in the bakery, no he's not ours, but many small stores in Deyang allows dogs without leashes!

Three Kingdoms Park

Today the school took us to Three Kingdoms Park. Which is a park with temples to honor a war strategists who sacrificed himself for an emperor. This was explained to us in Chinese and there wasn't any English signage so I may be wrong. We had lots of fun and managed to avoid the rain storm!

Add Love Bakery

So my friend Laurel and I went to the Add Love Bakery tonight! We had so much fun hanging out and eating yogurt with fancy bread. Laurel got a thousand silk egg moon cake which was apparently really good! I got peach bread :) Altogether it was a great way to end the day!
